my mother said that the winter solstice is the longest night and the shortest day of the year. the winter solstice is also an important festival in china. many places in the north eat dumplings on this day, many places in the south eat tangyuan, and we eat kohlrabi baked rice cakes in ningbo, implying that we are going higher and higher.

人日
人日亦称“人胜节”、“人庆节”、“人口日”、“人七日”等,指阴历正月初七。古代相传农历正月初一为鸡日,初二为狗日,初三为猪日,初四为羊日,初五为牛日,初六为马日,初七为人日。
汉魏以后,人日逐渐从单一的占卜活动,发展成为包括庆祝、祭祀等活动内容的节日。到了唐代,中国民间仍相当重视人日节。高适的《人日寄杜二拾遗》诗中就有“今年人日空相忆,明年人日知何处”的感怀之句。它证明唐代的人日节,已不仅仅专用作祈祥祝安,又衍添了一层思亲念友的气氛。时至今日,也有在外的游子在年前回家,过了人日节才能远走他方。人日节这天不出远门,不走亲串友,在家团聚。下午一般吃长面,也叫拉魂面。意即过年时人都走东串西,心都野了,人日一过该准备春耕生产了。故而吃拉魂面,把心收回来,准备春耕生产。
龙抬头
“龙抬头”,其实是指“青龙”七星开始出现在东方,万物此时开始真正苏醒,春天真的来了。
在北方,二月二又叫“龙抬头日”,亦称“春龙节”。在南方叫“踏青节”,古称“挑菜节”。大约从唐朝开始,中国人就有过二月二的习俗。
二月二民间一般有这些习俗:剃龙头、祭祀龙神、纳吉、围仓、吃龙鳞(蒸饼在面上做出龙鳞状来,称“龙鳞饼)、撑腰糕、炒豆子。
社日
“社”日一年有两个:春社和秋社,立春或立秋后第五个戊日即为春社或秋社日。
社日,民间称为土地公日,或土神日。古代把土地神和祭祀土地神的地方都叫”社“,按照我国民间的习俗,每到播种或收获的季节,农民们都要立社祭祀,祈求或酬报土地神。
花朝节
花朝节,花神节、百花生日、挑菜节、踏青节、春会节等。一般为农历二月十二日,但不同地区也各不相同。
花朝节的习俗丰富,除踏青赏红,还有扑蝶挑菜、燃灯祈福、蒸花糕、饮花酒、喝花粥、地方官出郊劝农等。明代汤显祖《花朝》诗即咏扑蝶:“妒花风雨怕难销,偶逐晴光扑蝶遥。一半春随残夜醉,却言明日是花朝。”
上巳节
上巳(sì),是指以干支纪日的历法中的夏历三月的第一个巳日,故又有三巳、元巳之别称。
古称上巳节,是一个纪念黄帝的节日。相传三月三是黄帝的诞辰,中国自古有“二月二,龙抬头;三月三,生轩辕”的说法。魏晋以后,上巳节改为三月三,后代沿袭,遂成水边饮宴、郊外游春的节日。
“上巳”也叫春浴日,女儿节,是针对于古时候未出阁的姑娘们的一种成人礼。
上巳节习俗祓禊(fú xì):古时人们去河边沐浴用兰草洗身,柳枝沾花瓣水点头身的仪式。
寒衣节
寒衣节,每年农历十月初一,又称“十月朝”、“祭祖节”、“冥阴节”,民众称为鬼头日,是我国传统的祭祀节日。寒衣节流行于北方,不少北方人会在这一天祭扫,纪念仙逝亲人,特别注重祭奠先亡之人,谓之送寒衣。
寒衣节与春季的清明节,秋季的中元节,并称为一年之中的三大“鬼节”。这一天也标志着严冬的`到来,所以也是为父母爱人等所关心的人送御寒衣物的日子。
寒衣节自古就有,相传寒衣节起源于周代。《诗经·豳风·七月》曾提到“七月流火,九月授衣”,意思就是说从九月开始天就逐渐变冷了,人们则要添置御寒的衣裳了,因此寒衣节(十月初一)又称授衣节。
祭灶节
祭灶节又称“小年”(腊月二十三或二十四或二十五)。“灶”即灶神,民间称“灶王爷”“灶君”。在古代神话传说中,灶神是督察人间善恶的司命之神,具有掌握一家寿夭祸福的职能。先秦时期,祭灶仪式就位列重要的“五祀”之一(五祀为祭祀户神、灶神、土神、门神、行神)。
古代宫廷中会举行隆重的祭灶仪式。据说,每年腊月二十三或二十四,皇帝都要斋戒沐浴,在宫中挂神像,安供桌,在神位面前行九拜大礼。皇帝礼罢,皇后、大臣一一点香行礼祷告,供奉糖果、糕点等32种供品。供奉糖果最多,意在用糖封住灶神的嘴巴,免得他在玉皇大帝面前告状。
民间祭灶也非常讲究。家家都要把厨房、灶台打扫得干干净净,在灶神像旁贴上对联“在天言好事,下界保平安”。神像下边摆放供桌,敬献糖果点心、美酒佳肴。

with the passing of time, this celebration of life became a day to the honor past ancestors. following folk religion, the chinese believed that the spirits of deceased ancestors looked after the family. sacrifices of food and spirit money could keep them happy, and the family would prosper through good harvests and more children.

the boat races during the dragon boat festival are traditional customs (传统习俗)to attempts to (试图)rescue (搭救) the patriotic poet (爱国诗人)chu yuan. chu yuan drowned (溺死) on the fifth day of the fifth lunar month in 277 b.c. chinese citizens now throw bamboo leaves (竹叶) filled with cooked rice into the water.
therefore the fish could eat the rice rather than the hero poet. this later on turned into the custom of eating tzungtzu and rice dumplings(粽子).
the celebration's is a time for protection (防护) from evil (邪恶) and disease (疾病) for the rest of the year. it is done so by different practices such as hanging healthy herbs on the front door, drinking nutritious concoctions (营养品), and displaying (展示) portraits (画像) of evil's nemesis(邪恶报应), chung kuei. if one manages to (成功做...) stand (直立)an egg on it's end at exactly 12:00 noon, the following year will be a lucky one.
today, people eat bamboo-wrapped steamed glutinous(粘的) rice dumplings called zongzi (the food originally intended to feed the fish) and race dragon boats in memory of qu's dramatic death.
