英语通用读后感篇1

"the wizard of oz" tells the story of a beautiful and kind-hearted girl dorothy adventure.

she begins with aunt em and uncle henry in kansas. one day, when he was playing with toto, the tornado came, dorothy and toto were hiding under the bed, and auntie auntie and uncle henry hid in the cellar, the house slowly flew, after a while, the house slowly descended, and dorothy came to another country.

along the way, she met a long straw scarecrow, a embroidered iron man and a cowardly lion. after many hardships, they came to the emerald city and met the great oates. oates promised that they could only achieve their wishes by killing the western witches. clever brave dorothy killed the evil witch of the west. the great oates realized their wishes. the scarecrow had smart brains, and the iron man had a good heart. the cowardly lion had courage. dorothy and puppy toto finally returned to their hometown, kansas, and met their beloved aunt auntie and uncle henry.

read the "wizard of oz", i feel the friend is very precious. dorothy and the scarecrow, the iron man and the lion never met friends. then they shared the difficulties together and helped each other, so that they realized their wishes. our classmates are friends. we should help each other. friends are precious and important. we should cherish him and let the flowers of friendship bloom forever.

i also understand the truth: people must move forward towards their established goals, go forward on the road ahead, do not fear the hardships and risks, and finally achieve the ideal harbor.

英语通用读后感篇2

this past december, i read charles dickens a christmas carol for the first time. of course, i have seen the story done on stage a number of times (mostly as a child), and the various movies are a yearly christmas tradition. (my favorite is albert finneys portrayal in the early 1970s british musical version "scrooge.") but despite being very familiar with the story itself through stage and film, and despite having bought a copy of the book some years back, i had never taken the time to sit down and read the story.

so, having bought a new edition of the book after christmas last year, i finally sat down in december and began the original story.

it was absolutely sublime!

as much as i love the film and stage adaptations of the story, the book was just wonderful. so full of color and imagination and description - you could fairly feel the 19th century london cold, the piles of apples and oranges on the street carts, the hawkers calling out to passers-by bundled head-to-toe in woolen coats and boots.

this really is the quintessential victorian christmas story. i suppose im only about 170 years late in determining that, but now that i have read the story, i can see why it was such an instantaneous hit with readers. it was so successful during his lifetime, in fact, that dickens began a tradition of writing christmas stories every year. the edition of a christmas carol that i purchased last year has two other dickens christmas stories in it as well, although i have not yet dived into those two.

so i highly recommend this book. if you have seen any or most of the various scrooge movies that have been made over the years, much of the book will be familiar, but there are a few scenes here and there that i have never seen re-enacted in a play or a movie, including a trip out to a mining colony on the coast of england, and a hovering ride over the english channel to view christmas on a navy ship.

even after all these years of watching movies and plays based upon this story, i was still moved, emotionally, while reading this book, particularly during the scenes with the cratchit family. and at the end, i almost felt a tear well up when scrooge showed up on his nephews doorstep for christmas lunch.

to end, let me quote one of the more poignant passages from the book. the ghost of christmas present has just reminded scrooge of his harsh words about how if the poor are going to die "then they had better do it, and decrease the surplus population." the ghost quoted the same phrase after scrooge expressed concern about whether or not tiny tim would die. the ghost goes on to say the following:

"man," said the ghost, "if man you be in heart, not adamant, forbear that wicked cant until you have discovered what the surplus is, and where it is. will you decide what men shall live, what men shall die? it may be, that in the sight of heaven, you are more worthless and less fit to live than millions like this poor mans child. oh god! to hear the insect on the leaf pronouncing on the too much life among his hungry brothers in the dust."

that last line, in particular, strikes a powerful chord. how relevent, 170 years downstream, and in another country, for the self-righteous protestations of the wealthy american!

英语通用读后感篇5

i am a girl who is active and does not like reading. although my mother arranges my time to read books every day during winter vacation, i pretend to be. this time, i got a book named "wizard of oz" in my little friends house, and i was attracted to it at once, and i read the book carefully.

the story tells of a little girl named dorothea rolled into a strange place by a tornado, away from her home. she met the western witch, and the western witch directed her to go to emerald city to find a magician to help her home. on the way, she met scarecrow, tiepisio j and cowardly lion. they all share the same wish and return to their hometown. at last they found the great magician, but the magician said that only the oriental witch could realize their own wishes and tell them how to find the oriental witch, and they found the oriental witch according to their instructions. finally, the oriental witch used magic to help them all return to their hometown.

every reading of a book has a lot of feelings, and she is a brave and kind girl who can always stick to it and come up with a solution. i think i should learn from her, in the days to come, no matter the difficulties encountered in the study, i should be good at thinking, careful observation, learn not to understand the question; also in life encountered difficulties i do not give up, never shrink back, to be a brave, kind person.

英语通用读后感篇8

in the summer vacation, i read a book which is called “the christmas carol”. it is written by charles dickens, a famous english writer.

the story is about ebenezer scrooge, a miser. scrooge always said about christmas, “bah, humbug”. he also didn’t like spending money and giving money away even more. marley used to be the partners with scrooge. unfortunately, he died 7 years ago. one day, maley’s ghost came to his home and told scrooge three christmas ghost would come to his home. firstly, ghost of christmas past came. he showed scrooge how he became a miser from a happy boy. then, ghost of christmas present came. he showed his employee and his nephew’s happy lives. finally, ghost of christmas future came. he took scrooge to his grave in his future and showed him his lonely death is the result of his mean and miserly life. in the next morning, scrooge understood. he changed his living way and became generous. he donated money to the charity organization.

i think it is a good story. it tells us to be generous and help other people more. to be miserly and mean only do harm to other people and ourselves. helping others is a very good virtue. it makes you feel good, make others feel warm and make others remember you. as so many advantages, why you don’t do this?
